THE OPERA CROWN, Tbilisi International Voice Competition, was launched in May, 2018.
The Competition takes place in Georgian capital Tbilisi every two years, each time offering the contestants from all over the world the best and most welcoming atmosphere to perform at their very best.
The Competition is open to opera singers at the start of their professional career and aims at discovering and facilitating the promotion of young talented singers by giving them the opportunity to be heard by a panel of top opera professionals – artistic and casting directors from world's best opera houses.
After the Preliminary Audition involving video recordings, 50 singers were invited to compete in Tbilisi.
Due to difficult global situation caused by the COVID-19, the second edition of the OPERA CROWN Competition was postponed to November 1-5, 2021.
AGE LIMITS:
The Competition is open to:
-
women between the ages 21 and 30
- men between the ages 22 and 32
There will be no exceptions to this rule.
COMPETITION ROUNDS: Competition is divided into a Preliminary Audition and three Rounds. Please note that the rule of selection of the Contestants has been changed due to the situation caused by the corona virus.
APPLICATION:
The Competition Committee must receive the candidate’s complete
Application Form
along with high quality video recording made within last 6 months to the following e-mail address: operacrowntbilisi@gmail.com no later than October 8, 2021.
Other documents to be included are as follows:
- a copy of passport;
- a copy of an official document confirming his/her music education;
- 2 recent photographs;
- a professional biography;
- copies of original award certificates (if any).
Application Form must be filled out in Georgian or in English.
The video recording must include 2 arias of applicant’s choice (max. 15 min).
There is no registration fee.
ROUNDS:
1st Round: the contestants will be selected by video recordings.
2nd Round: the contestant will sing two arias with piano.
3rd Round: the contestant will sing two arias with orchestra.
The arias should be sung in the original language and original key.
The Competition Committee reserves the right to audio-visually record and broadcast the rounds of the Competition.
All Contestants grant the Competition Committee the right to use their name, image, biography, as well as any photographs or audiovisual recordings of their participation in the OPERA CROWN, Tbilisi International Voice Competition, for broadcast on TV, radio and the internet.
PIANIST:
The Competition Committee provides a contestant with an official accompanist throughout the Competition, free of charge. However, a contestant is free to bring a pianist of his/her choice at his/her own expense.
ACCOMMODATION:
The Competition Committee provides the singers selected for the

nd Round with hotel accommodation in Tbilisi; the Competition Committee will pay the hotel expenses (bed and breakfast) for the contestant until he/she is eliminated from the Competition. To benefit from this offer the contestants must stay at the hotel reserved by the Competition Committee. The reservation refers to shared accommodation.
