Sulkhan Gvelesiani In 1993 Sulkhan Gvelesiani graduated from the historic faculty of the Tbilisi Iv. Javakhishvili State University and in 1998 graduated from the Tbilisi V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire (Prof. T. Mushkudiani’s class). He was a prize-winner of the 1999-2000 Republic and International Competitions. Since 2002, he has been a soloist of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre where he has performed baritone roles from Giuseppe Verdi’s operas: Giorgio Germont (La Traviata); Amonasro (Aida); Rigoletto (Rigoletto); Nabucco­­ (Nabucco); Renato (Un Ballo in Maschera); Ezio (Attila); Rodrigo (Don Carlos); Di Luna (Il Trovatore). His Malatesta from Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and Alfio from Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana are also noteworthy. 

The Singer often performs both in Georgia and abroad. In 2007 he had a recital in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatoire; the next year he sang Tonio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at the Rishon LeZion Spring Festival (Israel); in 2009 he appeared as Amonasro at the Fyodor Shalyapin International Opera Festival (Kazan, Russia) and gave a recital at the Kaufman Music Center, New York, the U.S.A. Two years later he participated in Vocal Music Concert held in Paris, at Les Invalides. 

Sulkhan Gvelesiani has been a stage partner of such famous singers, as: Paata Burtchuladze, Michèle Crider, Dolora Zajick, Badri Maisuradze, Valerian Gamgebeli, Gia Oniani, Alexandre Khomeriki, Temur Gugushvili and others. He worked under conductors: Daniele Agimant, Zaza Azmaiparashvili, Gianluca Marciano, Viacheslav Bartovsky, Karen Durgaryan, Revaz Takidze, Givi Azmaiparashvili, Shuya Okatsu, etc.
