Irakli Murjikneli In 2000-2004 Irakli Murjikneli studied at The Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University Drama Faculty. In 2009 he got BA in Music, and in 2011 received Master’s Degree in the Tbilisi Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatoire, where he studied at the Academic Singing Faculty under Prof. T. Gugushvili.

During his studies, Murjikneli sang several parts at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire Opera Studio: Bastien in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Bastien und Bastiene (2005), Duke of Mantua in Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto (2009); Ernesto in Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, which he performed again later, in 2014 as a soloist of the same studio; also, Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, which he sang in 2012-2013 at the Latvian National Opera and in 2014 at the Opera Na zamku, Szczecin, Poland. In 2011 he appeared as Marzio at the Tbilisi State Opera production of Mozart’s Mitridate, Re di Ponto.
During his student years Irakli Murjikneli received Georgian First Lady Sandra Ruelofs Scholarship (2006-2010) and V. Sarajishvili Scholarship (2011-2012). In 2010 he got a special commendation at Lado Ataneli Competition and sang at the gala concert with the Tbilisi State Opera Symphony Orchestra under Gianluca Marciano.

In 2012 the singer attended ENOA workshop at the Latvian National Opera; in the same year he was a Finalist at the 2012 Byulbyul International Singing Competition (Azerbaijan, Baku); the next year he won the Orchestra Prize and the Prize of the Opera Na Zamku at the International Competition Turnieju Tenorów (Szczecin, Poland); in 2013 he became a finalist of Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.

Since 2012 Irakli Murjikneli has been a soloist at the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 2014 he sang Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, subsequently performing Rodolfo in La Boheme by Puccini at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire Opera Studio.

Among Murjikneli’s important performances are: Dvorak’s Stabat Mater under Gianluca Marciano at the Al Bustan Festival, Lebanon, 2011; Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the same festival in 2014, under the same conductor; J. S. Bach’s Matthäus-Passion, conducted by Shavleg Shilakadze, in Tbilisi, 2014; Gala Concert at Rzeszow Philarmony, Poland, in 2014, under Tomasz Tokarczyk; Gala Concert under Dmitri Jurowski in Tbilisi, 2015.

Irakli Murjikneli’s repertoire also includes: Rossini’s Stabat Mater – Tenor and Il Barbiere di Siviglia – Almaviva; Richard Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier – Der Tenor; Donizetti’s E’lisir D’amore – Nemorino and Lucia di Lammermoor – Edgardo.
