Teimuraz Gugushvili The famous Georgian tenor Teimuraz Gugushvili graduated from the Tbilisi V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire Academic Singing faculty in 1976. Two years later he became a soloist of the Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1980-83 the singer completed his Postgraduate Studies at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire; in 1982-83 he was an intern in the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Italy as well.
During the successful artistic career Teimuras Gugushvili performed more than 30 major tenor roles in Georgian and foreign operas. Among them are Zakaria Paliashvili’s Abesalom and Eteri, DaisiLatavra; Victor Dolidze’s Keto and Kote; Otar Taktakishvili’s Mindia; Stealing the Moon, The First Love and A Philanderer; Meri Davitashvili’s Natsarkekia (The Cinder poker); Giya Kancheli’s Music for the Living. The singer’s wide repertoire also includes operas of Giuseppe Verdi: Aida, Don Carlo, Rigoletto; Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly; Gaetano Donizetti’s E’lisir D’amore; Charles Gounod’s Faust; Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci; Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana; Gioachino Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia; Modest Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov; Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades; Sergei Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges and The Duenna. The tenor’s part in Verdi’s and Mozart’s Requiem as well as in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony should also be mentioned.

Teimuraz Gugushvili has been involved in pedagogical activities as well. Nowadays he is a Professor and the head of the Academic Singing Department at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Since 2007 he has been the head of Vocal Department at the Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili Central Music School as well.
During his career Teimuraz Gugushvili toured throughout Australia, Europe, the U.S.A. and the former Soviet Union.

In 2003-2005 Teimuraz Gugushvili was the Music Director of the Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

In 1989 the singer became the People's Artist of Georgia; in 1992 he received the State Prize of The Republic of Georgia. He also received Zurab Anjapridze’s (1998) and Zakaria Paliashvili’s (2003) Prize; The Order of Honour (1994); the silver medal of Irina Arkhipova Foundation; the Honorary Diploma of the Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum. Teimuraz Gugushvili is the Honorary Professor of the Moscow D. Mendeleev Institute of Chemical Technology and Honorary professor of the associate centre of UNESCO.
